Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

This internship involved managing risk, helping prepare for monthly reporting meetings and managing minor financial changes within work packages.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a good amount of responsibility. I had enough responsibility that I the work I did was necessary and positively impacted the business, but I wasn't given too much responsibility that I was made to feel stressed or worried about the work I did.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

This internship helped me develop my communication skills as I had to speak to lots of different people within the team to collate information for big monthly reports and manage risks affecting different work packages. I also learnt a lot more about how businesses work and different software packages Project Managers use including ARM and Primavera. This internship also helped me develop my excel skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

There was a lot of support and guidance provided during this internship. There were a lot of digital training courses available throughout the internship, MBDA also provided in person training courses for specific software we were using. We also had a buddy who had previously been on an ECP program who was really nice and there to support and guide us on our internship. We also had a Technical Coordinator who guided us on our internship and on our future career in MBDA. Our managers were also really nice and supportive and were really good at giving us a variety of tasks to do and managing our workload.

There was a really nice company culture here at MBDA. Everyone was really friendly and supportive.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I really enjoyed this internship and I would definitely recommend it to other students at university. I learnt lots of new things, made lots of new friends and made lots of new professional connections.
