Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to attend many meetings with internal stakeholders and take minutes for your team. In order to support your team you may also be asked to make flowcharts and help with testing depending on the stage of the audit lifecycle you are participating in. Furthermore, there will be a large number of readings and documentations that you will be tasked to read.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
During the internship I was given the responsibility of taking minutes of the meetings I attended as well as supporting my team with testing and fieldwork of audits.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
A key skill that I was able to develop was my communication skills. The role requires you to attend meetings with senior internal stakeholders which allows you learn how to conduct and present your ideas and thoughts in a professional manner. Furthermore, you are able to grow your analytical skills as you learn and search for inefficiencies across different functions.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a large amount of support and guidance throughout the duration of the internship. I attended weekly meetings with my line manager in which we discussed my progress as well as any inquiries I had. Furthermore, I was easily able to set up chats and meetings with stakeholders across different divisions to help me understand the roles of their functions and gain their perspectives.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company encourage learning and personal development. They provide many means of exploring this through online training and one-to-one meetings. The work environment also promotes this as employees allow you to shadow their desk and even set up mentoring schemes as well.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship greatly. I was able to gain a deeper understanding of internal audit through a hands-on approach. I was also able to develop my understanding of other functions within the bank through exposure to internal stakeholders as well as shadowing different teams.
