Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The SPARK Scheme is a five-day insight programme for students in either their first year of a three-year degree or their second year of a four-year degree. Every day featured at least one presentation, workshop or panel on topics ranging from ESG considerations to a deep dive into the Global Financial Markets practice area and Clifford Chance's pro bono initiatives. Moreover, every participant was assigned a Trainee Buddy and an Associate Supervisor as their first points of contact. Everyone spent the week in the relevant practice area so every experience was innately different.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Transparency is a priority for Clifford Chance so it was easy getting to know how the business operates. The firm's online presence paints a comprehensive picture of its operations, the deals it handles and how its employees' day-to-day looks like.
Information about the potential roles available is effectively spread by the Early Talent Team through social media, various events and the firm's website. Inquiries are always welcome and the Early Talent Team strives to respond promptly with accurate and helpful information.

On the other hand, I greatly developed a number of already existing skills like communicating in a professional environment, feedback incorporation, effective research and commercial awareness.

Clifford Chance's culture is one of its main differentiating factors. As a first-year student I got the chance to speak to people of various seniorities -- from trainees to senior partners. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and I always felt like a part of the team. Moreover, my Trainee Buddy and Associate Supervisor were always open for questions or a chat no matter how busy they were. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Clifford Chance
Clifford Chance has an elaborate application process. First, it is vital to practice the Watson Glaser test in order to score well. Second, one must perfect the online application form by making sure the answers are carefully tailored to Clifford Chance and there are no grammar and spelling mistakes. Third, the Assessment Centre consisting of two 45-minute interviews requires solid commercial awareness and interpersonal skills. Practicing how to communicate answers well and being confident will go a long way.
