Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

We had sessions everyday of the week. This included training sessions, workshops and talks about the firm and different industries.
We also had 4 days of work shadowing. We were assigned a trainee buddy and a senior associate supervisor. Our supervisor gave us tasks which allowed us to better understand the role of a commercial lawyer.
Finally, we had a variety of socials to get to know our cohort and other lawyers.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was really easy to understand the business and the roles available within it. A variety of sessions touched upon the roles available and how to attain them. Additionally, we were able to better understand the business of the firm by speaking to our supervisors and others in our department.

I was able to develop key skills like commercial awareness, leadership communication and time management.
These skills were developed through a series of session as well as hands on work and advice from qualified lawyers.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company was beyond amazing. Everyone was extremely smiley, happy and helpful. For example, when I was working on something I didn't understand, I was able to reach out to a lawyer I didn't know for help, and they were happy to assist me.
Also, I reached out to many lawyers for coffee chats and all of them happily accepted and diligently answered all the questions I had.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I really enjoyed the scheme as I was truly able to get a good insight into the firm, its business, the industry and the role of a commercial lawyer.
People were also really friendly which made the learning experience very enjoyable!
