Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Responding to emails and attending meetings within my department, and with specialist colleagues to help advance my research. Planning and conducting labwork and the required training in line with the standard operating procedures. Documenting all labwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given full control over the direction of my project, however plenty of help and guidance was offered along the way. This was notably the case at the start where i was learning a lot about the work i was going to conduct, the guidance was very useful. I have been given control over the day-to-day running's of my project since the start.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have improved my organisational and experimental planning skills as well as my scientific writing skills. I have also learnt a great deal about the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development process along with many of the specific techniques and machinery that is used.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a lot of support and guidance. My supervisor and colleagues were very supportive and helpful whenever I had queries or required their guidance. I never felt that my questions and requests were a hinderance to anyone, they were always happy to help and wanted me to get the most out of my project.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is very open and friendly, there are lots of departmental event to get involved with and people are very welcoming. The workforce is very diverse and has an inclusive atmosphere.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I found the location of the company itself to be daunting at first as it is a more remote area of the UK, it took some getting used to but everyone at work was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The job itself was very enjoyable and felt fulfilling, i definitely enjoyed it and the year has flown by.

What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
Don't be put off by the location of the company, it will take some adjusting to but its worth it. The staff are all very lovely and welcoming and they want you to get the most out of your placement.
