Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

Everyday was different. I was allowed to get task from anyone at the firm and was able to volunteer to work on extremely interesting tasks. Some of the tasks I did included drafting a contract, reviewing documents for an important litigation and creating a summary, participating in client calls and preparing and attending a witness statement.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

You could not ask for more insight. Everyone was extremely keen to give all the schemers an insight into what life at the firm really is. The schemers were fully integrated in the office life and we were invited to attend coffee conversations with most practices in the office to understand the full offering of the firm in London.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes. From drafting to public speaking, everyday at GDC was an opportunity to develop new skills. The firm is very supportive. The moment I asked my supervisor for an opportunity to develop a new skill, drafting a contract, I was given the opportunity to do so.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I loved my time during the scheme and came to the office with a huge smile every day. You may feel some pressure at times (as per all vacation schemes) but the strong bond that is created with all the other schemers and all the practitioners really helped to make the whole process extremely enjoyable, fun and insightful.
