Data Analysis & Governance Review

During my 12 months at Unite Students, I divided my time equally between two crucial departments: information security and data protection, and data analytics.
In the first half of the year, I was a part of the InfoSec and data protection department contributing to the development of the incidence response plans, thereby enhancing the organisations cyber security posture.
Transitioning to the second half of the year, I was a part of the data analytics team, focusing on leveraging data analysis techniques to provide valuable insights to the business.

During my Placement, I was entrusted with significant responsibilities that allowed me to contribute effectively to the organisation. For example, I was given ownership of developing and implementing the incident response plans within the infosec department, which involved collaborating with team members and enforcing the organisation's cyber security. Additionally, in the analytics department, I had the responsibility of conducting data analysis and providing valuable insights to key stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making

During my time at Unite Students, i actively pursued learning opportunities and develop new and existing skills. In the data analytics department, I have made significant progress in improving my SQL, Python and tableau skills, allowing me to derive meaningful insights and drive data-driven decisions. Additionally, i have gained the knowledge to develop comprehensive incident response plans and implement data protection techniques, further bolstering my knowledge in the realms of information security. By expanding my skill set in the various analytics and information security practices, I have positioned myself as a versatile professional capable of making valuable contributions to both analytics and information security domains.

During my Placement, I received strong support and guidance from my supervisor and colleagues, They played a pivotal role in my professional development by providing mentorship , answering my questions and providing valuable insights. The team created a supportive environment where i feel comfortable seeking guidance whenever needed. Regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and constructive discussions were instrumental in refining my skills and ensuring that i stayed on track with my responsibilities. The collaborative nature of the team allowed for knowledge sharing and continuous learning experience, fostering my growth during the placement.

During my Placement, the company culture and general atmosphere were highly positive and conducive to personal growth. Unite students fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where team work is highly valued. Colleagues were approachable and open to sharing their expertise, creating a strong team spirit.

I enjoyed my placement experience at Unite Student. It provided my with valuable oppourtunities to apply my skills and make a meaningful impact within the organisation. I enjoyed working in various departments, and learning about the PBSA industry. Overall, my placement experience exceeded my expectations and provided me with a fulfilling and rewarding experience.
