Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I support on a range of different projects so I'm not normally consistently working on the same piece of work for longer than a week. I don't solely work with my team, I also get the opportunity to work with a range of teams on varying projects. However I consistently run reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a fair amount of responsibility, however I wasn't just thrown into the deep end. How much responsibility you get given very much depends on how much you put into the placement. The more you put in, the more you get out of it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I've developed my excel skills as this is used frequently. I've developed presentation skills as I've had the opportunity to present numerous different projects to different colleagues. My communication skills have developed lots as I've had the privilege to work alongside a range of diverse individuals.

I received quite a lot of support, this extended outside of just my immediate team and into the larger extended team. Anytime I had a question, someone was willing to help me and show/ tell me what to do.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
There's a fantastic culture around the company with a clear emphasis on striving for excellence. There's very much a 'don't settle for 2nd best' attitude at the company. There's also a clear emphasis on praising this work and behavior and rewarding employees for it.

What advice would you give to others applying to Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Be brave, don't ever be afraid to ask questions as there's so many things that you won't know, but you also aren't expected to know. Do your research on the company. Bring a positive, energetic attitude.
