Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role day to day was working on all areas of the business, whether that was new exciting projects or maintenance of our existing systems. I would regularly pair programme with senior members of the team which gave me a great opportunity to network and develop my skills.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes very much so. At Holiday Extras you are given total responsibility and you are trusted as an employee from the very first day. I was given lots of opportunities to work on new and exciting projects both by myself and with the support of others.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed lots of skills throughout my placement at Holiday Extras, both technical and soft skills. Technically I have developed my understanding and ability to write quality code to ensure we have a great solution. In regards to soft skills, I have developed my team work, communication skills, email writing etc.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Throughout the placement I was given any support which i needed. If I ever was unsure of how to approach a specific problem then I felt that I could reach out to anyone who perhaps would be able to help. Holiday Extras has a very inclusive environment and we all work closely as a team to achieve our squad goals.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company culture at Holiday Extras is un-matched. There is a great culture. We regularly have social events such as BBQ's, parties, and team trips out which all help to build such a great atmosphere at the company.

What advice would you give to others applying to Holiday Extras
Be yourself, try to portray your personality as much as possible. Holiday Extras is a people first business, so of course it is great to have the skills technically, but show them you are a real person as well.
