Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As an undergraduate, my role was to provide support to my colleagues on any project/task that was assigned to me. I was also provided with the opportunity to seek out future opportunities/improvements to the current methods of operation by MBDA. Due to the type of team I was placed it, my tasks would often require me to interact with different departments within the company.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I found that all the task given to me, gave me a sense of responsibility and ownership over all the work that I completed. Most of the tasks that were entrusted to me were left to my discretion to determine the outcome of task.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
When joining the company, I completed an analysis of my skillset on skills which I thought I was confident in and skills that I was less confident in. Throughout my time at the company, I found that lot of opportunities to develop my existing skills and increase my confidence in a wide range of skills.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
To give myself an opportunity to learn and experience more during my placement, for my tasks I would only look for advice when I felt it was most appropriate and was accompanied by weekly review meetings with my line manager. For general and career guidance and support, I found that the advice I received, was given to me at the most ideal moments of my placement.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Despite being located in a different office to the rest of my team, I am thankful to the team and colleagues that looked after me during my time in the office. This helped me for more comfortable in joining the company. As a hybrid worker, I have found that despite not seeing people in-person for meeting, I can still be approachable and cooperative to complete my tasks.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
As my first full time office job, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with MBDA. The experiences that I have gained and skills I have developed has really changed my outlook of work-life in the office. Dynamic work hours has also helped me a lot with the flexibility in the way I work and to mange my work and social-life balance.

What advice would you give to others applying to MBDA
Be yourself as it is obvious when you are forcing a personality type. Despite some of the questions being difficult during the interview, the company is mainly looking for people who are approach problems that would fit the companies function. Even if you have doubts about the company, apply to the company anyway as the experience you can gain from the company is irreplaceable. Be ready to learn on the job as you will not be expected to know everything.
