Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had different activities planned everyday, each activity was valuable for our future as legal professionals. These included, but weren’t limited to, CV advice, interview tips, and shadowing a lawyer of the firm.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful - I’ve previously believed that there are only a few limited roles you can get into in the legal field. My experience with Gibson Dunn has allowed me to acknowledge just how many types of roles in the legal sector are available and this will absolutely be used to inform my future career choices.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I’ve gained a lot of new skills, especially with regards to interviews as this was previously my weak point. With the experience I gained with Gibson Dunn, I now feel prepared to walk into any interview comfortably.
The work given to me when shadowing also allowed me to enhance my skills in legal research and organisation of vast information to compact it and make it understandable for clients that aren’t familiar with legal terminology.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The entire company was extremely nice and provided a comfortable atmosphere. It is always intimidating to enter such a large law firm for the first time, but the staff made it an incredible and comfortable experience and was always open to answering questions and taking initiative to start conversations with us.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP
Applying to Gibson Dunn is probably one of the best choices you could make - there’s not a single person there that I think would be difficult to make a connection with because they are all absolutely lovely people. The staff, when asked why they stay at the company, continuously mentioned the friendly and warm atmosphere of the other members of the firm.
