Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My main responsibilities include managing some of my own and assisting the team in paid search and paid social marketing campaigns across various platforms. I then coordinate the content for these, and brief in the agency. My role also includes a lot of content management, working on various ad hoc projects that aim to optimise and improve the customer journey across different digital channels, as well as web briefs such as new landing pages or blogs. Finally, I work on projects to drive and generate consumer reviews.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I worked up to having a lot of responsibility on my placement. i feel i got to this level by taking initiative and volunteering for new projects, which helped me learn processes and ways of working quickly for a range of tasks. I have had responsibility over running and optimising campaigns, content on site, initiatives and promotions, owning media channels etc.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt multiple new, role and industry specific skills by doing the job and using the platforms that come with it. I have learnt about campaign management platforms and how to run, report and analyse and optimise performance.
I have also developed my transferable skills greatly such as communication, adaptability, collaboration, taking initiative, prioritisation and project / time management.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received an incredible amount of support not only from my line manager, but the whole team, and people in other teams too. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful, and i felt that i could approach any colleague with a question or for advice and i would be supported.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very friendly and welcoming. It is less hierarchical/formal and everyone is approachable. My team were really fun to work with and everyone got on great. there is a positive and encouraging culture across the whole of BSH that comes from the top down.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I had a brilliant time on my internship. I learnt so much and gained so much value from the experience of the role, and in the business. I also made great friends with the other interns and had a really nice time outside of work also.

What advice would you give to others applying to BSH
You get out of the internship what you put in. So the more you show up and engage, and take initiative and put yourself forward, ask questions etc. the more opportunities you will have to get involved and work on exciting projects, and increase the responsibility you are given. The internships at BSH are a great opportunity, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a placement where you can actually get involved, be part of the team, and feel you are adding value to the business.
