Amsterdam Trader Graduate

Graduate Job
Most interesting part(s) about your role?
I enjoy the competitive nature of the role. Everyone on the desk has different ideas and how to go about executing their ideas. It is fun to debate these and come to a shared view as a desk. I was surprised by the constant learning process each day as the market is always changing and there are always new developments.
Hobbies outside work, how do you unwind?
Outside of work, I like playing different racquet sports, mostly tennis, but also squash, badminton, table tennis. Currently I am getting back into cycling and running again. Having recently moved to the Amsterdam office, I am also getting to know the city!
Why did you join Maven?
From first impressions, it seemed as though Maven placed huge emphasis on personal development all within the wider context of teamwork. I am continuously impressed by how much this is reinforced into the culture and it makes for a great environment to work in. The graduate scheme seemed technically intense and I thought the programme looked exciting.
What do you enjoy most about working in the Amsterdam office?
We trade some interesting products here in the Amsterdam office, and I have joined a new desk so there is lots to do and always different areas of trading to improve. On my desk we do a mix of broker trading and screen trading and learning the nuances of both of these is interesting. I grew up close to London, so it is a fantastic opportunity to learn in a different city with a great team.
