What to expect from the EY application process
At EY
Placement (10 Months+)
Applying for a role at EY involves a few different stages, giving you the chance to showcase your strengths while learning more about the programme you’ve applied for.
We asked Estelle, Early Careers Manager, to talk us through the process and what you can expect.
Before you apply
Before getting started, take some time to explore the opportunities available and think about what you’re looking for from your career. “Once you've had the chance to explore our careers website, why not reflect on your skills and the type of environment that you would thrive in?”
This can help you narrow down the opportunities that feel like the best fit for you before you begin your application.
Skills-based assessments
Once you’ve applied, the next stage includes a series of skills-based assessments. These are an opportunity to show more than your academic achievements, "These are looking to understand more about your skills and your strengths. We want to know the type of environment that you would thrive in.”
Video interview
If you progress, you may then be invited to complete a video interview. This is your opportunity to share more about yourself and, “Here we want to understand your why, your motivation, why you would want to join one of our programmes.”
Think about what genuinely interests you about the opportunity and what has motivated you to apply. It’s less about having a perfect answer and more about communicating your reasons clearly.
EY Experience Day
The final stage is the EY Experience Day, which takes place in an EY office and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills through a range of activities.
“You'll have the chance to showcase your skills through a range of activities at our assessment centre. This is known as our EY Experience Day.”
The day also includes a final interview, where you can talk more about your experiences, skills and aspirations. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear from an EY Partner about their own career journey.
The application process isn’t just about demonstrating what you could bring to EY. It’s also your opportunity to learn more about the people, culture and opportunities available.
Use each stage to get a better understanding of EY as an organisation and the programme you’re applying for, so that by the end of the process, you have a clearer idea of whether EY feels like the right place to start your career.
