Management Intern Placement

Describe your role and what it entails:

I was a Management Intern at Enterprise Mobility, and it was an incredible journey. Over the course of 12 months, I was trained to develop the skills needed to become an Assistant Manager, with a clear pathway toward eventually running one of the 450+ branches across the UK.

I started by getting to grips with the day-to-day operations, everything from retail rentals to insurance replacements, and quickly progressed to handling different lines of business with confidence. But the role was so much more than just renting cars. I worked closely with local corporate accounts and body shops, learned how to manage a team and run a branch, and represented Enterprise Mobility at university careers fairs and networking events.

The variety was amazing, and no two days were the same. I gained hands-on experience, built meaningful relationships, and developed both professionally and personally.

What have been your highlights?

One of the standout moments of my placement year was taking part in the nationwide Enterprise Mobility Intern of the Year competition. Every intern across the UK was invited to participate in a series of team calls covering key professional development topics, from networking and career pathways to presentation skills and personal branding. As part of the process, I created and delivered a presentation that showcased my performance throughout my placement year, my engagement on social media, my involvement in diversity and inclusion initiatives, and a business improvement idea I had developed.

I was proud to reach the national finals held at Enterprise’s European head office, and ultimately win the title of Intern of the Year. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that not only challenged me professionally but also allowed me to connect with inspiring individuals from across the business.

While winning the award was a major highlight, it’s the people I met and the experiences I had that really defined my internship. Being surrounded by driven, supportive, and influential team members pushed my own development.

What has surprised you the most amount working at Enterprise Mobility?

What surprised me most was how much more goes into running the business than I initially realised. Behind every rental is an operation involving logistics, customer service, revenue management, and strategic decision-making. I learned something new every day, from how to manage costs to how to tailor excellent service to different customer needs. It’s shown me just how dynamic and complex the business really is.

What have you learnt from your experience in the role?

My internship taught me that I’m capable of far more than I gave myself credit for. I’ve become way more confident in myself and realised I’m capable of a lot more than I thought. It’s helped me find real purpose in what I do. Looking back, I’ve learned more than I ever expected, and I’ve found an organisation where I genuinely see a future. I’m proud to be part of a business that invests in its people and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

How would you describe the culture at Enterprise Mobility?

The culture at Enterprise Mobility is genuinely incredible. It’s a fun, friendly, and supportive environment where you feel valued every day. I’ve always felt like I have my own personal cheerleading squad, whether it’s managers, colleagues, or teammates, everyone is there to lift each other up. It’s a place where hard work is recognised, laughter is encouraged, and people truly care.
