Degree Apprenticeship
As soon as I found out about Degree Apprenticeships, I knew it would be the path I wanted to take after my A-levels. I was already interested in Engineering, both from my own interests and from my experience at School. I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to learn how to be an Engineer from one of the most prestigious Aerospace companies in the world.
My biggest fear as a new apprentice was feeling like the 'small one in the room' who didn't know anything. That fear completely disappeared once I realised how welcoming, patient, and encouraging everyone was. No question was ever treated as silly, and the teams I have been inhave gone out of their way to support my learning. Within my placements, I have been given significant responsibility and have had a real impact on the output of the teams. This has not only taught me a huge amount about engineering, but has had a knock on effect of teaching me about the importance of taking ownership of tasks. I have had the opportunity to not only see first hand how engineering functions, but to have an active role in it. Most days, I don’t even feel like an Apprentice. It’s a real privilege to be so close to the pinnacle of aerospace engineering.
Thanks to the culture at Airbus, I have not only improved my professional skills, but also my soft skills. I am grateful for the fantastic opportunities I have had during my apprenticeship so far, and am excited for what’s to come.
