How has your role at AG helped you develop professionally and personally?
My role as a solicitor apprentice at AG has enabled me to develop both professionally and personally in ways that differ significantly from the traditional university route. Professionally, I have gained hands on experience from day one, working alongside experienced solicitors and being involved in real client matters. This practical exposure has accelerated my understanding of legal processes and client care, while also allowing me to build a network within the firm. Personally, the responsibility and independence that come with balancing work and study have helped me grow in confidence, resilience, and time management.
What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship or graduate position at AG?
For anyone considering an apprenticeship or graduate position at AG, my advice would be to carefully weigh up your options and think about what environment suits you best. The apprenticeship route is particularly beneficial if you prefer learning by doing and want to begin making valuable connections in the legal sector. It offers the chance to earn while you learn, gain valuable experience, and qualify as a solicitor without the traditional academic route. If you’re unsure, consider what motivates you, how you learn best, and whether you’re ready to take on the responsibility of working in a professional environment from the outset. Speak to current apprentices and graduates, attend open days, and research the firm’s culture to help inform your decision.
How have you found the support and culture at AG, and how has it impacted your experience?
The support and culture at AG have been excellent and have had a positive impact on my experience. There is always someone approachable to answer questions, and I have never felt like an inconvenience, even when starting with no prior experience. The firm fosters a supportive environment where everyone is willing to help, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and give back, whether through volunteering, committees, or social events. This inclusive culture has made it easy to settle in, develop professionally, and feel valued as part of the team.
