Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

We partook in a variety of different workshops, where we got to learn more about DLA Piper as a firm and what kind of work they engage in a daily basis. We learnt about the different practice areas, pro bono work, new initiatives and the trainee experience.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

The insight scheme opened my eyes to the different roles of a lawyer can take on with the different practice areas one can specialise into. I also learnt about how DLA Piper is revolutionising the law sector with it's focus on tech and also investing in business ventures.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed interpersonal skills from having to interact with the co attendees and networking with the lawyers. I also developed critical thinking skills from engaging in a mock litigation process.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture generally is very welcoming and friendly. All the trainees were really open to answering questions and the partners were all very kind enough to give us insights into their journey and advice.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I very much enjoyed the insight programme. It was well structured with an itinerary set to us before each of the days of all the activities and also had regular breaks to refresh. It was well rounded and nice introduction to the firm. They organised a post event social for the attendees, which was lovely.
