Placement - Marketing Executive Review

The Marketing role varies day-to-day and is dependent upon your skills and the skills you want to develop. I've been involved in a variety of tasks such as writing and editing blogs, collaborating with partners, building out email campaigns, and creating landing pages from scratch. I've also had the opportunity to lead the placement recruitment drive which involved reviewing CVs, conducting telephone interviews, and organising assessment centres.

Throughout my placement I've been given responsibility that brings just as much value to the business as the tasks undertaken by permanent employees. From leading the recruitment drive to executing the quarterly blog plans, my manager has trusted me with a variety of duties that have equipped me well for my future prospects.

As an English Literature student, I wanted to hone in on the versatility of my writing style. I've learnt how to adapt my writing to appeal to a B2B audience, as well as how to use copywriting to improve SEO. I've also gained a level of proficiency in a number of new platforms including Landingi and Moz.

Although I've been assigned many large projects throughout my placement year, I've never felt like I was completing them alone. If I ever have a question or concern, my manager has always been willing to assist me in any way she can. With weekly catch-ups and monthly 1-1s, I always know what's expected of me and how I can achieve it with the support of my colleagues.

The atmosphere is lively and sociable, especially among the placements. Everyone is very approachable and are willing to get involved in company socials. Because ProspectSoft is an SME under the umbrella of a large organisation, you get that small community feel alongside the branching network that comes with being part of a sizeable enterprise.

I can't imagine a better way to spend my placement year. I've developed an endless list of new skills and feel equipped to continue my studies and secure a graduate job later down the line. I've also met lifelong friends during my year which has made my experience with ProspectSoft all the more enjoyable.
