Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a member of the small Business Operations unit, my role includes leading meetings for wider teams, pre-planning agenda and coordinating with team mates. Keeping information organized and up to date via our systems. And using creativity a times to come up with designs for these systems to keep it all up to date.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Absolutely. Working in a small team means pulling your weight. Following my first month shadowing I was given full trust by my team members to run several meetings a day, hosting and directing teams of about 5-25 people. It was also my duty to plan what goes into these meetings and topics of discussion.
Also have the responsibility of continuously updating documents on our systems for wider teams knowledge.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I've definitely developed my confidence and public speaking abilities. Learnt SQL/Coding language. Become familiar with business terms and systems, and developed my concentration and attention to detail particularly in regards to numbers.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A lot of support was available to me. My team are so easy to talk to and so happy to help, If anything they appreciated my endless questions. Before starting a task I'd get an in-depth brief explaining the work that needs to be carried out. Before taking on meetings I was given 1-1 sessions where I could drill particularly confusing areas.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Due to Covid, I haven't been able to work in the office during my placement nor have I met my team that I speak to daily. That being said, the general atmosphere is positive and friendly. Lots of interesting, intelligent and diverse people to interact and network with.
Had offices been open, there are endless social events/ activities such as 'Intern sleepover' to get involved with.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my placement thoroughly! Lots of interesting and kind people to interact with and learn from. You feel a sense of responsibility to perform at you're best, especially when hosting meetings and having people depend on you. This made me enjoy WarnerMedia more. My role felt important and I loved serving a wider purpose.

Believe in what you say especially during the initial interview process. For the assessment centre my advice would be to enjoy it. Feel comfortable and show you're willingness to learn and that'll make a lasting impression.
