It is essential within Test Engineering to stay organised and set out your day in terms of priority. Communication between yourself and customers helps you identify targets quickly. It is then important to create clear instructions for a given test plan so that when the Engine is running the data collected is useful. Troubleshooting issues when they arise allow you to test your problem solving skills.

Yes, within this role you essentially are responsible for a prototype Engine which would cost a lot of money if anything fails. It is your duty to make sure any issues are logged in documents.

Presentational skills, this is continuously tested within the role as every morning you have to present what your Test Cell has done to the rest of the team so that a plan of action can be made quickly and any problems seen can be identified.
Organisation skill has definitely developed as you have to be prepared constantly at this role

There is always someone around to help out if there are any issues. As the Test Engineering team has to reach out to so many different roles in R&D it is extremely helpful to ask different teams about issues you may see during troubleshooting as they may have encountered the issue before

The Company is very welcoming, they understand that as a student, you will need more support so everyone is extremely helpful. When anything comes up which you are unsure about, there are plenty of people to go to.

I think it has taught me a lot about how the industry works. I have enjoyed learning how to act at a work place and seeing how other Engineers approach problems, however, because it is a placement, a lot of the problems which require troubleshooting tend to be solved by other team members, or solved with loads of supervision.
