Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role centers around fixing issues relating to imports and exports. This includes answering email queries and working on preventative projects, as well as filling in various government forms to amend errors.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
The level of responsibility increases during the placement; at the start, you have very little responsibility but as your skillset rises, you become responsible for various projects. I appreciated the fact my responsibility throughout matched my ability, so it was not overwhelming.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My IT skills have developed massively, especially concerning Microsoft Excel as much of my work is done through this. My Trade knowledge and overall business operation knowledge has increased massively working in the business environment daily.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture in our team has been one of the parts I have enjoyed most about my placement; everyone gets along well, there is a relaxed environment and a 'team-spirit' certainly exists.

Spend time working on your Microsoft Excel skills and make sure you are comfortable with the basics
Research live economic issues (Covid, Brexit etc) which affect Trade
Don't be afraid to ask questions: it is always better to do things right first time in this industry!
