Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Working as a systems engineer I worked with a large list of requirements and my role involved deriving these from customer specifications, finding evidence from trials and tests to sign off these requirements and creating test instructions and reports to do this.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I wasn't in a position where I could take lead on any of my assigned tasks, however I was solely responsible for completing a lot of them independently.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Minimal. The work I did went through an internal review process once completed and it was only after this concluded was I given guidance on where to improve, but this process could take days or weeks.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It's difficult to get a gauge on this working from home, but I didn't notice any major issues.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Working during Covid has it's challenges, but I feel this only amplified a lot of the issues I was facing and overall made it less enjoyable. I'm sure during a normal year this would've been much better.
