First Year Spring Scheme Review

Consisted mostly of workshops and presentations delivered by solicitors at all levels of seniority in different practice areas. We had plenty of opportunities to socialise with our cohort and network with individuals from across the firm. We also spent a day shadowing an associate in one of the London office's practice areas, which was incredibly insightful and rewarding.

A brilliant and invaluable insight, considering I am at such an early stage of my career. I now have a much more enhanced understanding of what practice areas interest me, and the exposure I had to them has helped me developed a reasoned and articulate explanation as to why commercial law and why those specific practice areas. It was also beneficial to learn about the different legal roles, including Counsel and Partnership.

I definitely developed an appreciation for what it's like to work at Latham, including what skills are necessary to be successful in the job. Further, I have a greater understanding of the different practice areas and what sort of skills are necessary for different areas and tasks given, as well as the nuances between each level of PQE.

Everyone was so friendly and kind. The partner in the area I shadowed an associate in gifted me a chocolate easter egg, kindness which blew me away. All the staff we met were so willing to talk to us and spend time answering any and all questions we had. I also appreciated the candid nature of our conversations as it felt much more authentic.

The insight was the best legal experience I have had so far and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take part. It was incredibly enjoyable and I found it extremely insightful and beneficial.
