Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Transport for London?

I’ve had a really good experience at Transport for London. I’ve been able to work across different projects and areas of commercial management, which has helped me build my skills and confidence. I’ve also met and worked with a lot of great people who have been supportive throughout my time here. There are definitely some things that could be improved, as you would expect in a large organisation, but overall it has been a great place to develop professionally.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

During my time at TfL, I have worked across four different rotations, three focused on post-contract commercial management and one focused on procurement and tendering. My post-contract rotations have involved cost reporting and forecasting, payment assessments, change control, compensation events and supporting contract administration. My procurement rotation involved supporting the development of tender documentation, tender evaluation and working with different technical and commercial stakeholders throughout the procurement process.
What I enjoy most is the variety that comes with working across different projects and stages of the commercial process. The rotations have allowed me to develop a broader understanding of both procurement and post-contract management, while also giving me the opportunity to work with different teams and stakeholders. I particularly enjoy the problem-solving and analytical side of the role, especially when looking at costs, changes and finding practical solutions to commercial issues.
