Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Transport for London?

it's been really good, great focus on development and freedom to pick placements in teams I enjoy.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

list of objectives to complete per placement, covering areas like project management, PMO, construction and sponsorship. I enjoyed the fact that we have development time set aside for site visits, activities, and events as well as volunteer opportunities for extra initiatives and projects to increase our experience during our scheme.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
depends on the team but typically very used to having grads so they give meaningful work for you to complete and sometimes work is escalated to seniors which feels good

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
salary is a bit low compared to london cost of living but it is tracked against inflation and free travel is great. could do with better gym discounts.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
very well, lots of exposure to infrastructure projects

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
less opportunity for formal training in the grad scheme but we do get exposure to in-house qualifications like track awareness, carbon literacy etc. plus we complete the APM PMQ in our second year.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
very well supported by all involved

How is your work-life balance?

3/5
there is a slight busyness culture among some grads, we sometimes work extra hours as we want to excel and do extra work to get good ratings/success in roll-off and we have a few people in our cohorts who message/email outside of work hours or even during AL which doesn't help. would help if we had more structured guidelines for hours worked, not working during AL etc.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5

How would you rate Transport for London initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5

How would you rate Transport for London CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
