Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Boeing UK?

It is good to be part of large projects with such large public visibility. It is not the engineering experience that may be offered in some smaller companies, but it provides an insight into various stages of the engineering lifecycle.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

I work in Integration and Test for the UK E-7 Wedgetail. This involves planning ground tests, test readiness reviews and liaising with various teams before, during and after testing. I enjoy interacting with other stakeholders internationally.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
My work is contributing to the wider team, but it can be lacking at times.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
The scheme includes fair scheduled pay rises between each rotation, but the starting salary has remained the same for a few years (from speaking to grads when I was an intern). The other perks are extensive and very fair.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
This role is a good intro and stepping stone to start my career/

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
I have done some formal training, but the day-to-day role is largely developing new skills by using the tools and speaking to people.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
Lots of buddies, managers always on hand.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
I work 4 longer days and 3 days off, which works really well for me.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
There is a big drive surrounding the new company values. The atmosphere can sometimes be quite sharp between BDUK and contractors, but it's largely a good environment to work in.

How would you rate Boeing UK initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
There is a big emphasis on STEM volunteering and outreach.

How would you rate Boeing UK CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
There is a big emphasis on STEM volunteering and outreach.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Boeing UK to a friend?

Yes

Why?

It is a good stable company to work for (BDUK) with plenty of grown opportunity.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5
I knew what to expect from my internship.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Boeing UK?

Apply early and try to interact with the recruitment team at university days, etc as there are so many other applicants.
