Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Transport for London?

Overall, I have enjoyed my time at TfL. I've had the opportunity to work on many different project that have a large impact on the city I live in, and learn from the experiences each projects has given me. I've met many experienced individuals who have been supportive and open to share knowledge and helpful information related to my role as well as general advice, and the company always pushes you to be proactive with your time and allocate many senior staff to guide your progression through the company.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

The main responsibility of this role is to contribute towards projects within Transport for London. This could be working on the engineering side to aid in developing solutions for challenges with TfL's many projects, project management to help steer a project to completion, working in finance, or a data department. Your main responsibilities will depend on the team that you choose to join, all in the goal of meeting the mayor's transport plan.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?

Yes

Why?

This role gives you an opportunity to explore multiple different areas of the business and contribute to large scale projects at different points of their life cycle, which gives a breath of experience that graduate roles with defined pathways may not be able to provide. You will have many different opportunities to develop and learn, and TfL emphasis on building a friendship with your other graduates is great considering how close all of the different scheme groups are with each other.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Some of the questioning during the interview does not seem very relevant retrospectively, but the need for team co operation and good communication is paramount to performing well in most teams.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Transport for London?

Make sure you are aware of the Mayor's Transport Strategy and co operate with you team during the assessment centre.
