Overall, how would you describe your experience at Transport for London?
My experience in Transport for London has been amazing. I have been surrounded by a strong senior support network who always prioritise my experience and wellbeing, as well as positively challenging me allowing me to develop well in a healthy environment.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
In my first placement, Technology Advisory Management, I was primarily involved in implementing new technologies to tackle fare evasion. I was heavily supporting the project oversight and management, as well as developing a Power BI report to collate and visualise new and existing data to gain meaningful insights. I conducted risk analysis and supported options papers. I enjoyed ideating with the team on an innovative technological solution, and problem analysis the most. But, I also enjoyed the whole project management experience and working with external stakeholders.
In my current placement, Strategic Technology Planning, my primary role is to conduct market analysis and engage with external companies to understand and exchange insights on the future of different technology capabilities in the transport industry. This required a lot of strong stakeholder management/communication, project management, strategic and high level thinking, as well as data collection and analysis. I enjoyed the strategic and high level thinking when it comes to market analysis the most.

The supportive network and culture in TfL is strong and colleagues really put emphasis and time to help graduates/apprentices develop and learn. We receive support from sponsors, placement managers, and have buddy's who consistently check in and make sure everything is going well.

There are many groups within TfL to join which focus on things like accessibility, disabilities, rights, and equality.

TfL have many internal groups which are always active and creating fun and meaningful events for their members. This ranges from disability groups all the way to sports groups etc.
