Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is equivalent to that of a site engineer in which my daily duties included setting out, spraying up for permits, creating said permits, booking pour cards and deliveries for the ground team and writting reports for handover
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
limited as I was still a first year undergraduate but was given minor responsibilities such as taking pictures and spraying out for evacuation under supervision of course

learnt ho to set out for construction, learnt how different concretes work as well as how to inter prate engineering diagrams.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had great training shadowing my team although had little to no support from the early careers team and the on boarding wasn't managed well at all. In short the people in charge of actually doing the training were but the team I worked with on a regular basis were amazing

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was a construction site so very sort of ground and down to earth people there. Very much people that gave back what you gave to them.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
It was very long hours and can be slow moving at times definitely not for the faint of heart but you make up for it with being able to be hands on day one, a wealth of knowledge as well as experience many different things in a short space of time. Your are also handsomely compensated for you work.

What advice would you give to others applying to BAM
BAM are a very good employer but like any employer you have to make it very clear what you are willing to do and what you would like to do and they will be very acommidating.
