Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Intern in the Global Capital Markets Rotation rotating across FX sales and trading, Rates sales and trading, EM sales, Repo, Prime and DCM. Very insightful allowing a broad view of markets not just between asset classes by types of roles involved. Was able to network and gain understanding across the desks and across seniority.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Responsibilities included own projects set by desks such as statistical analysis, automation projects or trade ideas as well as being able to create own projects to present to desks. Also had a final presentation where I had the opportunity to present independent research/projects to heads of desks.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Developed my communication skills presenting to senior people projects and trade ideas. Also developed technical skills in understanding the products such as different types of derivatives as well using python and VBA.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received immense support throughout the internship not just from fellow interns but also from HR, who are always supportive and passionate about uplifting interns, and from the full-timers at the bank who are evidently invested in early careers and ensuring that interns are able to gain the most out of the experience.

Had a profoundly enjoyable experience where I was able to learn a vast amount about the business as well as being an active member of the different teams I was assigned to.
