Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The day-to-day involves completing desk tasks such as market insights or leading daily meetings. Days can vary widely, from shadowing to creating trade ideas to focusing on tasks set by the desk. The best thing about the daily structure was that an intern could be as proactive as they wanted and spend the day focusing on anything they found interesting on the floor.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
The opportunity came with lots of responsibility, and I felt like I was actually being trusted and having a small impact.

From both HR and each desk, there was so much support, both with understanding the desk's operations and with day-to-day enjoyment.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was genuinely great. Everyone was extremely approachable and supportive. This was one of the biggest shocks when starting the internship: how much exposure we had to anyone of any level and the opportunity to learn from them.

What advice would you give to others applying to Scotiabank
My advice would be genuine. The HR team work through each CV and I think a genuine interest but also an interesting person, is what was common across the floor and what the company is looking for.
