Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
Fantastic, they really support you throughout and put you through your Chartered Accountancy Qualifications and provide the recommended study leave on top of your annual leave.
You also get a 10% top up on top of your cash salary for your pension, insurance, buying shares etc.
Theres also a sharesave scheme and buy as you earn.
There are 4 rotations but you can roll off early after your third like I did and you can apply for junior management positions too which gives even more benefits and higher salary

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The variety, there are so many different aspects to finance and its good to see a lot.
I did financial reporting of year end results for the group, project management and having to sign NDA’s, forecasting cost, recruitment and management, got to meet a whole host of senior management and senior executives and get to speak to then at a one to one level.

I feel for a grad role it pays extremely well as I took a junior accounting role that paid little over minimum wage before I joined NatWest

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I wouldn’t say it’s formal training the nature of accounting is to jump in and do it because learning processes doesn’t teach you how to spot problems and fix them. So for me at least, it wasn’t structured classroom learning it was go do this.

Brilliant, I suffered personal loss whilst on the scheme and they supported me with studies and work life balance. We also have mentors and buddys and become buddys

I’ve marked this lower because the professional qualifications do take up your weekends but thats the case for anyone studying and working full time
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Everyone is really welcoming and approachable and hybrid working is great at only 2 days per week in office

They’re very focused on internal promotion and accepting of everyone. I come from a working class background and mixed race and never felt like I wasn’t accepted

We get 3 paid volunteering days that are actively encouraged and you meet so many people through this and getting to help a good cause

Yes
Why?
Its given me so many opportunities when other places haven’t. I was initially turned down for the role but then a position came up so never write it off if you don’t get it first time

I would have Marked lower because it was more than expected. But its been great
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Try to work with others, you will end up being friends with these people and working together shows that you’re a team player and learn about Natwest ethos and culture and use those when answering questions.
