Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Dunbia?

I have been at Dunbia for 5 years and in that time I have been on multiple training courses. I am currently a Level 7 CIPD Apprentice and have just attained Chartered status. I have also been on a programme in Dublin and travelled once a month to UCD to develoy leadership skills.
My experience has been a positive one and I have been entrusted with responsible tasks within this role

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Training and development is always a function which provides intrinsic reward
I also enjoy supporting managers and employees to help them achieve their goals

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I have helped other sites with their HR responsibilities and travelled throughout the UK and Ireland in this role. This is something which I enjoy and find rewarding. I have built good relations with teams across the business.
I have been trusted to manage HR projects and these have had a meaningful impact on the employees employment experience.

Through the experience and professional qualifications I have gained in this role I feel that Dunbia has prepared me for progression.
This is an area which Dunbia excel. They have a great L&D team which are always at hand to upskill the team.
Employees at all levels are provided with development opportunities which will serve them well in their career

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I have been pushed into tasks which have helped me to develop. You are given opportunites to stretch your current skills and you are given the support to achieve continuous improvement

I have support from my manager and other managers.
Dunbia also have mentors and buddy systems for Graduates and I am a mentor

How is your work-life balance?

You have to be disciplined with your time and make sure that you leave on time.
You have the option of staying on to complete work or leaving on time

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

The demographic of the workforce is extremely diverse. Despite this there is very little conflicts and people are very friendly and respectful of each other.
Differences are celebrated and colleagues are given to support and encouragement to be themselves at work.
I manage site grievances and they are extremely rare.

How would you rate Dunbia initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

Lots of events have taken place to celebrate different cultures.
Management take a proactive approach to creating an inclusive culture

How would you rate Dunbia CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

This is an area which is high on the agenda
This year I have taken part in 2 10k fun runs to raise money for charity
I also have a 12km military grade obstacle course event coming up to raise money for charity
Since I have been in this role I have been appointed as a charity ambassador by a local homeless charity which supports young people

Would you recommend Dunbia to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The training and support which you receive is extremely valuable
The people are very nice, both in management and employees

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

The recruitement process was very good.
I was at the second stage interview for 2 roles and becasue I had such a positive experience with Dunbia, I withdrawn from the other process and accepting their offer.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Dunbia?

I would recommend to research the company and the role that they are applying for.
Another tip would be to research the food manufacturing industry in general and look at the challenges and opportunities within the industry.
