Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

During my internship, I completed two rotations.
In my first rotation, I supported the team through client research, preparation of briefing materials and industry analysis. This helped me develop a stronger understanding of client coverage, relationship management and how banks identify commercial opportunities.
In my second rotation, I worked on client analysis, market research and strategic projects. This included preparing presentations, conducting sector research and analysing corporate clients to support business development activities. Through this rotation, I developed a stronger understanding of financial analysis, credit assessment and how banks evaluate lending and relationship opportunities.
Across both rotations, I strengthened my analytical, communication and presentation skills while gaining exposure to different areas of investment and corporate banking.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was trusted to take ownership of projects, conduct research and analysis, prepare presentations and written materials, and manage deadlines across multiple workstreams. Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a high level of support throughout my internship. Colleagues across both teams were approachable and willing to help whenever needed, from analysts through to senior management. My line managers provided regular guidance, reviewed my work, and held feedback discussions to highlight both areas for improvement and what had gone well. This supportive environment played a significant role in my professional and technical development over the course of the internship.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was extremely inclusive, collaborative and welcoming. Colleagues at all levels of the organisation were approachable, friendly and willing to help, whether that was answering questions, providing feedback or offering career advice. There was a strong emphasis on learning and development, and I was encouraged to take ownership of my work while knowing support was always available when needed.
The internship also offered a fantastic social experience, with regular networking and social events that helped interns build relationships across teams and the wider business.
Beyond this, the firm placed a strong emphasis on giving back to the community, offering CSR and volunteering opportunities as well as charity initiatives that allowed employees and interns to make a meaningful contribution outside of their day-to-day roles. Overall, the atmosphere was professional, supportive and genuinely enjoyable to be a part of.
