Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CBRE Group?

My experience at CBRE has exceeded expectations. From day one, the Next Gen Property Management pathway has given me real responsibility rather than peripheral tasks, and the support network around me has made the learning curve feel manageable rather than overwhelming. The team culture is collaborative and inclusive, and I feel genuinely welcomed rather than just tolerated as a graduate. CBRE's scale means there is always something new to learn and always someone willing to help you learn it.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My core responsibilities centre on the day-to-day management of retail and shopping centre assets, including client reporting, site inspections, and maitenance / increasing value of my properties. The part I enjoy most is the site inspection work. Getting out on the ground, understanding how a centre actually functions, spotting issues before they escalate, and building real relationships with tenants makes the role feel tangible and rewarding. No two days look the same, which keeps me engaged.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
I feel genuinely valued by my team. Colleagues treat my input as worth hearing, not just something to be politely acknowledged. I am included in conversations that matter, given ownership of tasks with real consequences, and trusted to represent the team in client-facing situations. That level of trust at an early stage of my career means a great deal.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
My compensation feels fair for where I am in my career, and the benefits package adds meaningful value beyond the base salary. The most valuable perks for me are the structured graduate development program, flexible working arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance, and access to CBRE's wider professional network and training resources. Yearly bonuses and health care inclusion is great.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
The Next Gen pathway is well-designed for career development. The breadth of exposure I am getting across retail property management is building a strong commercial foundation, and the structured nature of the program means that progression feels clear rather than vague. I feel confident this role is setting me up well for a long-term career in property management.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
Skill development has been strong across both formal training and day-to-day experience. Formal sessions have covered core property management competencies, while the live nature of the role means I am constantly applying and refining those skills in practice. The combination of structured learning and hands-on responsibility has accelerated my development far more than I expected.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
The support I have received has been consistently strong throughout the program. My line manager deserves particular credit; they have been genuinely invested in my development, providing clear guidance, regular feedback, and the kind of practical advice that only comes from real experience in the field. Beyond my direct manager, the broader support structure has been reliable. Whether I have needed clarity on a process or reassurance during a challenging week, there has always been someone available. Nothing has felt missing; the support has matched the pace and demands of the role well.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
Work-life balance has been one of the genuine highlights of my time at CBRE. The hybrid working model functions well in practice, not just on paper, and the team respects personal time outside of working hours. Workloads are stretching without being unmanageable, and I rarely feel pressured beyond what is reasonable. That balance has had a direct positive impact on my wellbeing and has helped me stay motivated and focused throughout the program.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
The culture at CBRE is inclusive, grounded, and genuinely welcoming. As a graduate joining a large organisation, it would be easy to feel like a small part of a big machine, but the team atmosphere makes that concern disappear quickly. People take time to bring you into conversations, explain context, and make you feel like your contribution matters. The RISE values are not just words on a wall; they reflect how people actually behave day to day. Hybrid working is handled thoughtfully, with a good balance between in-office collaboration and flexibility.

How would you rate CBRE Group initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
CBRE's commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility is visible and active rather than performative. The culture within my team reflects those values naturally, with diverse perspectives welcomed and respected in everyday interactions. Awareness initiatives and internal networks are promoted and accessible, making it straightforward to engage if you want to. The inclusive atmosphere I experience daily is the best evidence that EDIA principles are genuinely embedded in how the business operates.

How would you rate CBRE Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
Corporate social responsibility feels like a genuine priority at CBRE rather than a box-ticking exercise. Volunteering and community initiatives are communicated clearly and participation is actively encouraged. CBRE's broader sustainability commitments also resonate with me personally, and it is encouraging to work for an organisation that takes its responsibilities to people and the environment seriously. The opportunity to contribute beyond the day job, whether through community volunteering or sustainability-focused initiatives, adds real meaning to the role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CBRE Group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Yes. CBRE offers something that is genuinely hard to find as a graduate: real responsibility from day one, within a team that actually invests in your development. The scale of the business means the opportunities are broad, but the team environment keeps it from feeling impersonal. If you are serious about a career in property and want to hit the ground running rather than spend your first year making coffee and sitting in on calls, CBRE is the right place to start.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5
The role exceeded what I anticipated going in. The recruitment process gave an honest and accurate picture of what the work involves, but the reality has been even more engaging than I expected. The level of exposure, the quality of the assets I am working on, and the genuine trust placed in graduates from early on all surpassed my expectations. That is not something every graduate program can claim.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CBRE Group?

Do your homework on CBRE's values and culture before you apply. Understanding what CBRE stands for, and being able to speak to that authentically, will set you apart from candidates who have simply memorised facts about the business. Show a genuine interest in property; the people interviewing you care deeply about the sector and they will notice if you do too. Come prepared to demonstrate commercial awareness, whether that means following market trends, understanding how retail assets operate, or having a view on what is shaping the real estate landscape. Most importantly, be yourself. CBRE recruits for culture fit as much as capability, and the interview process is designed to find people who will thrive here, not people who perform well in a room and then struggle on the job.
