Internship- Relationship Management, Commercial Banking Review

I worked within People & Communication in the Analytics department and during my time there I supported my manager with newsletter write-ups, general communications, website additions, and also data analysis and visualisation tasks.

I was given a good amount of responsabiltity which increased as the inetrnship continued and I became more comfortable in my role and had a better context of the team.

I definitely developed my analytical skills and data literacy. I also learnt a lot about communications styles and appropraite language when writing articles and newsletters in a corporate setting and in a professional tone.

I recieved a huge amount of guidance from both my line manager and the Emerging Talent team. I had access to three developmental 1:1 sessions where I could discuss my placement and the skills that I was developing. The wider team was very encouraging, and always made time to discuss my placement and talk to me about their business area, always providing advice for me too.

There was an excellent company culture at HSBC. Everyone was very kind and there was a big emphasis on recognition and maintaining good relationships at work. HSBC have many Employee Resource Groups which promote inclusion and celebrate diversity which was also great to see. Also, all employees recived paid volunteering days which was a great indication of HSBC's commitment to the community and charitable causes.

I had a wonderful experience at HSBC, and I would definitely recommend the programme to anyone interested in banking. I recieved amazing training and a lot of support and advice throughout my 10 weeks there and I developed key skills which I will use in my future career.
