Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As a summer intern you rotate on different desks within the trading floor and work on different projects for each of the desks. You are expected to network with the different members of the team you are on as well as members who are outside of your team. Additionally there is learning material that you are expected to cover on each of the rotations that you are on and you will be quizzed to see your understanding of the subject area.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes I was given the appropriate amount of responsibility in each of my roles and I felt as though I did work that actually helped each of the teams

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed a lot of my skills during my time at the bank. The most important of all is communication and learning how to interact with people from different backgrounds. Aside from that I have deepened my industry knowledge and developed my technical skills

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I got a lot of support during my time. Everyone on the trading floor was willing to have a conversation with me and help in case I needed it. Furthermore there was a lot of support from HR incase of any mishaps or concerns.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture has been the best part about the internship. I can truly say that the culture within the bank is one that is unique to the rest of the competitors and I has been a pleasure working in this environment.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I had the best time at the internship and would recommend the experience to anyone. It has been so much fun getting to talk to different people and learn more about the industry. This has truly been a once in a lifetime opportunity.

What advice would you give to others applying to Citi

Make sure that you are well prepared for the interview process and take your time when doing the online assessment . Most importantly be interested in the role that you are applying for, there are many roles in the bank and there is something for everyone so make sure you find out what you like and follow that interest!
