Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Citi within the Consumer and Retail team, I primarily covered the food and beverage sector. I supported both pitches and live transactions, with responsibilities spanning industry research, Excel-based financial analysis, and the preparation of client discussion materials.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given considerable responsibility from an early stage. I worked directly with senior team members, prepared work for clients, and proactively coordinated with colleagues to ensure tasks progressed efficiently.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I developed my communication and organisational skills, particularly when managing competing priorities and coordinating with colleagues. I also strengthened my PowerPoint and Excel capabilities and improved my attention to detail.

The team was very supportive and always available when I had questions. At times, their demanding schedules meant that I had to figure things out independently, but this was a valuable opportunity to take ownership of my work and develop my problem-solving skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture was friendly and supportive, with people willing to help whenever needed. However, it was also a highly demanding environment, so keeping up with the pace, staying aligned with the team, and reacting quickly were essential.
