Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was involved in validation and modelling work using a new liquid-liquid extraction robot as part of the Automation team, so my day-to-day work usually consisted of planning and running experiments using the robot, analysing the data and also troubleshooting any issues.

I was paired with a buddy during my internship who helped me to settle in and answered any general queries I had. I also had a supervisor who offered a lot of support and guidance with my project.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The general atmosphere was very friendly and positive, with everyone being very happy to help whenever I needed it. Everyone also seemed very passionate about the work they do, which was very inspiring to see.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I greatly enjoyed my time at AstraZeneca, not only for the opportunity to develop my lab skills in an industrial setting, but also because the work was genuinely fun and interesting. The best part was definitely the people I met, who were all so friendly and driven. I also appreciated the level of responsibility and independence I was given, alongside the readily available support.
