Actuarial Consulting Intern - reviewing pensioner member calculations, drafting communications to pension scheme members, running excel models, attending internal and external calls, working on overarching group project with other interns.

Yes - I was completing billable client work from day 4 and working at around 50% billable hours during my internship. I was emailing clients from week 2. I volunteered to plan and chair my team's monthly meeting. The tasks I was doing did not just feel like admin tasks that nobody else wanted to do but real, useful tasks that were exceptionally helpful to learn from.

Yes. I have become a much more confident communicator during this internship and have learned a significant amount about pensions and the work that goes on behind the scenes.

The perfect amount. I was given tasks with some guidance to start but not handheld, so I learned from every task by having to figure out what to do. My manager and buddy were both very helpful looking after me but also encouraging me to reach out to ask for work & to reach out to speak to different people about their roles. Everyone in my team was fantastic at supporting me, answering any questions, going for coffee chats about their careers and roles.

Aon had a great culture in my office. Everyone was very friendly and open to having a quick chat with me, and the office felt open and welcoming. I was never expected to work late, although I would occasionally stay just past my finishing time to wrap up a job (so I didn't have to pick it up the next morning) - but I would get told to leave if it was getting more than 15 minutes after my end time! My contract stated 9-17:15 but there was a degree of flexibility surrounding this; had I needed to come in earlier and leave earlier or later I could've done so after letting my line manager know.

I enjoyed my internship thoroughly. I enjoyed the range of work I had the chance to complete and really enjoyed the company culture.
