Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I worked in the Business Banking team where i supported Relationship managers in looking after SME businesses.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, throughout my internhsip i created client info packs which included client snapshots, sector information, financial informtion and opportunities and threats for the business, and further developed this on with potential question to ask. I also attended many client meetings, where i gained hands on experience and was able to see real life interactions. i also worked on my own project that was set for me during the internship.

My manager was a great leader and amazing at explaining everything about the role. My team have been very helpful during my internship as well as the early careers community have been amazing at providing support.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere was very friendly, and I immediately noticed many people have been in the bank for 20+ years showing me how great the culture and growth opportunities are.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

My internship has been an amazing experience and has shown me that this is something I definitely want to continue in the future. I have learnt so much about my specific job role and the bank as a whole. The support from everyone around me has been incredible and HSBC is a great organisation to work in.
