Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?

I appreciate the opportunity to be able to try various roles and teams throughout the bank, allowing me to learn new things and skills, as well as figure out what sort of role I would like to go into once I complete this graduate scheme. Everyone here has been really friendly and supporting, particularly when reaching out and networking with them - they're often open to have a chat and let you shadow them in their work areas for a day or two.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

I completed multiple rotations during my time on the graduate scheme. My first placement was in Retail customer engagement, wherein I was responsible for creating push notification journeys tailored towards the younger generation (18-35 year olds) - I enjoyed the creativity and the extent in which I was able to network with various teams in the wider bank. My second placement was in Fraud prevention technology architecture, wherein I was responsible for improving the business operations within the team by setting up more efficient processes to keep track of projects and any resulting work on the back of that.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
They often let you own your projects from end-to-end and will be supportive throughout the process, constantly open to hearing your ideas and thoughts, and providing feedback.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

3/5
Quite a few perks such as cheaper cinema tickets and various other things - but not often used.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
This graduate programme gives me the opportunity to try various areas within the bank, learning different skills but is often transferable between different roles.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
Constantly learning new skills with each new team I'm placed into but there are always opportunities to bring the skills I've learned from my previous team into the new team, hone it further, and even upskill the new team on it.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

4/5
My managers have been really supportive in my development, always encouraging me to expand my network and learn new skills, and providing timely feedback on the work I've done. My buddy has also been really friendly and encouraging - giving advice on presentation skills, interview skills, etc. HR have their own communication issues, whereby we receive varying information from different people.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
Flexible 9-5 in that you can log in early and log off late, and vice versa. But strict 7 hour work day in that my managers often encourage me to log off by 5pm.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

4/5
Very welcoming and supportive environment, everyone is always open to having chats and answering questions. Mostly hybrid, flexible working policies.

How would you rate NatWest Group initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

4/5

How would you rate NatWest Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

4/5
Everyone is encouraged to take 3 CSR days.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Good work environment, friendly culture.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Wasn't sure what to expect when I went through the recruitment process but I appreciate the variety of teams we get to try on this graduate scheme.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to NatWest Group?

Research the main 'behaviours' of NatWest and try to relate your experiences and skills to those behaviours, particularly in how your work impacts customers, colleagues, and the wider bank.
