Summer Analyst Review

During my internship, I worked within the Portfolio Management Securitisation team. My role involved supporting the team with the ongoing monitoring and management of securitisation portfolios. On a day-to-day basis, I reviewed and organised portfolio information, assisted with reporting and analysis, and helped the team prepare relevant materials. I also attended meetings, worked with colleagues across the team, and developed an understanding of how portfolio performance, risk, and transaction requirements are monitored.

I was given a good level of responsibility for an intern and was trusted to contribute to meaningful tasks. I was expected to manage my workload, complete work accurately, and meet agreed deadlines, while having support available when required. As I became more familiar with the team’s processes and expectations, I was able to work more independently and take greater ownership of my tasks.
I particularly valued being able to contribute to the team’s work rather than only observing. This helped me build confidence, improve my technical knowledge, and develop strong organisation, communication, and time-management skills.

The internship allowed me to learn about securitisation, which was a relatively new area for me, and understand how it is applied within portfolio management. I developed my ability to analyse information, identify relevant details, and communicate my findings clearly.
I also became more confident working independently and taking ownership of tasks. At the same time, I learned when to ask questions and seek guidance. This helped me improve my organisation, adaptability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

I received a strong level of support and guidance throughout my internship. My colleagues were approachable and willing to explain unfamiliar concepts, answer questions, and provide context around the work of the Portfolio Management Securitisation team. I was given clear instructions and constructive feedback, while also being encouraged to work independently and take ownership of my tasks.
The balance between guidance and independence helped me build confidence, deepen my understanding of securitisation, and develop my professional skills. I felt comfortable asking for help when needed and well supported throughout the placement.

I found the company culture to be inclusive and supportive. From the beginning of my internship, I felt welcomed by the team and was encouraged to ask questions, learn from others, and become involved in the work. The general atmosphere was friendly while remaining professional, and colleagues were generous with their time and knowledge. This helped me settle into the Portfolio Management Securitisation team and build confidence throughout the placement.

I would rate my internship 10/10. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found it both rewarding and valuable. I appreciated the opportunity to work within the Portfolio Management Securitisation team, gain exposure to a specialist area, and develop my technical and professional skills. The supportive team, varied responsibilities, and positive working environment made the placement highly enjoyable and confirmed my interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.
