Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My team is primarily concernced with brokergae, clearance and exchange. Day to day activieis include reviewing our dahsboards of calculated fees we should be paying brokers vs the actual invoices and checking for a variance, looking at ways to update the dashboards and make them more user friendly and making sure exchanges don't overcharge us
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given very little responsibility during the internship. I was given various different tasks and developed different skills throughout but exposure to project was little and I often wasn't sure what the next stage was in the project I was working on as I didn't get exposure to it.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learned many new skills primarily excel focused. I learned to develop my excel skills , particularly my ability to analyze large amounts of data and use pivot tables regularly to analyze it. I gained basic exposure to SQL queries through DbVisualizer. I was able to develop my analytical skills by trade matching .

I received support and guidance every time I needed it. My managers, mentors and team have supported me throughout and always offered me help when I needed it.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I loved the culture. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The workplace and work schedule are flexible around your needs and it is clear employees are very valued in this business.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I did really enjoy my internship. I feel there are quite a few places for improvement with the overall programme but seeing as it is the first year these internships have become available.

What advice would you give to others applying to Citi
To do loads of background research but also be very confident in your abilities before applying. Not to worry if you think the interview went horrible, as I though I had done progressively worse in every intervew and found the Citi internship interviews the worst out of any other places I had applied for yet I managed to get the internship. To make sure to always be yourself and be able to explain the reasoning behind your responses
