Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Working within an audit engagement team, learning on the job about the different aspects of an audit. Working on site with the team and interacting with clients while gaining an understanding of how an audit takes place in practice.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes! I was given independent work to complete but with the ability to ask anyone in the team for help if needed!

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Communication is an important skill as you must be able to communicate within the audit team and with the client. Excel skills and other technical and digital skills were developed during my time with the firm. Being able to work within a team is also extremely important.

The support and guidance provided was amazing! We were given so much information and were supported all the way during the internship. If we were stuck, we always knew who to ask or where to go for help and support!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture within the firm was so welcoming! Everyone was happy to lend a hand and answer any questions we had, even if they weren't on the same engagement and regardless of their position in the company.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I loved every minute of the experience! It gave me a good insight into what working there full time would be like and I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and working within a real audit engagement team.

Be yourself! GT is an amazing company and provide all of the resources for you to become the best version of yourself professionally. Don't worry if you don't know anything when you start...the training provided is amazing and it is so easy to settle in and get to know everyone!
