Overall, how would you describe your experience at GKN Aerospace?
Great opportunity. Many opportunities for growth and new experiences. It is what you make of it.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
It is a rotational role where you will join specific teams based on interest, business case, skills learned, and team necessity. Experiences, responsibility, and tasks are variable based on the graduate and their manager.
There is potential for just individual training with little or no responsibility or opportunity to lead project development with significant responsibility, customer engagement, and technical development. Highly influenced by the initiative of the graduate and their manager.
Some responsibilities include: manufacturing testing, process development, technical reports, technical presentations, hands on prototyping, procurement, project management, customer engagement/presentations, leadership development, technical exposure, and training courses.

Why?
While the salary is not ideal, the benefit from opportunity and growth outweighs this aspect. The opportunity is what you make of it and rewards initiative, ambition, and hard working graduates. This is a company of amazing culture, people, and support where the work life balance is phenomenal, flexible, and relaxed. I would highly recommend this company and this position to anyone looking to gain significant growth as an engineer.

Poor communication of program structure and process. Many aspects are better than I had originally thought and many aspects are worse.

This is an amazing opportunity for growth and development. Think of it as an individual, specified masters. You get out of it what you put in.
