Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I play a key role in supporting the claims team by managing the day-to-day administration and progression of insurance claims across various lines of business, including international claims. On a typical day, I will review and set up new claims, update claim records, handle correspondence, respond to broker and insurer queries, monitor claim developments, and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date. I have to regularly liaise with brokers, capacity providers, reinsurers, actuaries, and external experts to gather information and provide updates on claims. The role also involves preparing reports, analysing claims data and management information, assisting with monthly claims reporting, and supporting senior claims professionals with technical and operational tasks. Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills are essential, as I help to ensure claims are handled efficiently, stakeholders remain informed, and clients receive a high level of service throughout the claims process
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am still enjoying my programme as it has helped me to develop my skills within my role as a claims technician. It has also helped me develop my confidence around new people and my most used communication skills.

As I started my role before the apprenticeship I had already developed some of my skillset. However, I still have learned so many which have added on top of my abilities.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very structured and has been easy to follow. It has the sessions and workshops evenly spread out so I am able to complete my tasks and learn from my textbook at the same time. I also have plenty of time to continue with my normal role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We are consistently provided with emails suggesting how we can reach out to experts to get help whether it is in our role or within the apprenticeship or even outside of that such as in personal life.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is always offering multiple ways of help such as personal sessions before the exams or also getting advice where to find extra help if someone needs something else.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though the apprenticeship has helped me to understand various areas of my role and about how I can make an impact through proper support and feedback. I have completed one of my exams which has had a very large impact on my role specifically so far.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We do have some days during the year which can be signed up to. However, they are not all the time which means unless it is the time of year that has events there is not much else to sign up for.

This role has helped me to understand how another side of the Insurance Industry works and how many opportunities there are here. They are also very heavy on taking on young people to help develop the beginning of their careers.
