Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at AstraZeneca?

Great experience, the company has a lot of opportunities and there is a lot of support on early talent programsmes.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Placement 1: Data science collaborating with lab based teams to improve data capture and processing of laboratory-generated data.
Placement 2: Bioinformatics placement analysing multi-omics data from patient tumours across many different cancer types. Also, app development.
Placement 3: Agentic AI project setting up large transcriptomics pipeline to analyse and compare thousands of gene signatures across different diseases.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I've had the most development through my day-to-day roles. The placements can be flexible, so I was able to develop skills I was interested in related to the different projects.

Remote work policy for data science is 60% attendance in the office per month. Nice balance between being able to work from home and collaborating in the office.
