Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I'm a software developer on the Markets Trade Surveillance team within Compliance Technology at Citi. Day-to-day I write and test surveillance logic in Java Spark and Python (PySpark), manage code through GitHub with trunk-based development, run DEV/SIT testing via spark-submit commands, verify results in YARN logs and HUE/Starburst, and track all work via JIRA through an Agile lifecycle that ends with production deployment through LightSpeed, Harness, AutoSys, and ACF.

Yes a lot of skills that have improved my ability as a programmer. Team is more data-engineering oriented so I’d say concepts and languages like the ETL flow, PySpark, Sql, Java

Quite a lot, I’m grateful that my team is quite friendly and answer all my questions by walking me through the entire process. I’ve also been assigned a “buddy” in my team who basically acts as a mentor and guides me along the way

What advice would you give to others applying to Citi
Citi is a good company to work in as a graduate, intern/placement student as you get an early insight into how tech works in FS and how these top banks couldn’t run as efficiently without it. Also a good early career to get you insights on what developers actually contribute to with big companies like Citi
